chargeback plans allow you to customize the rates applied to each business unit for the services they consume this feature is designed to give you granular control over internal cost allocation, helping to reflect true usage while supporting broader financial strategies and goals with chargeback plans, you can apply adjustments to individual services , tailoring how costs are distributed across the organization common use cases include adding a percent uplift to cover it overhead such as personnel or shared infrastructure applying a discount to promote adoption of new technologies increasing rates on services you want to discourage or deprecate chargeback plans work in real time, and changes are reflected immediately in the invoice view for each business unit how it works to access chargeback plans, navigate to the chargeback plans page from the manage section in the left hand navigation you’ll see a list of business units that have been allocated costs click on a business unit to open its individual chargeback plan each plan includes a table with the following details provider name the cloud provider associated with the service (e g , aws, azure, gcp) service name the specific service allocated to the business unit (e g , aws bedrock, azure virtual machines) adjust rates the current adjustment being applied to the service’s rate a value of 0 means no adjustment is applied by default, all rates are passed through directly from the cloud provider to make an adjustment click into the adjust rates field for a given service enter a positive number to apply an uplift (e g , 5 for a 5 percent increase), or a negative number to apply a discount (e g , 5 for a 5 percent discount) click anywhere outside the input to save example to give a 10 percent discount on aws bedrock, enter 10 in the adjust rates column for that service integrated with invoices and budgets any changes you make in a chargeback plan are immediately reflected in the invoice view for that business unit the amberflo rating engine automatically recalculates totals based on the new rates, ensuring accuracy and transparency chargeback plans also integrate with budget tracking, allowing you to monitor actual spend against predefined budgets this visibility helps identify anomalies, prevent overspending, and ensure financial accountability key benefits custom rate adjustments per service and business unit supports uplifts, discounts, and internal cost strategies real time impact reflected in chargeback invoices seamless integration with budget tracking and reporting promotes transparency and accountability across teams
