Quoting and Workload Planning
Quoting for Cloud Cost Estimation
Amberflo’s Quoting feature enables you to generate reliable, cost-aware estimates for planned cloud workloads. Whether you’re budgeting for a new project or reviewing proposals across teams, quotes provide a fast and consistent way to forecast cloud costs using your actual pricinga.
Common Challenges in Cloud Cost Planning
Enterprises often struggle to estimate cloud costs during early planning. Teams rely on rough assumptions or public pricing, which can lead to budget overruns, delayed approvals, and unclear expectations. It can also be difficult to forecast spend at the business unit level or apply internal pricing and chargeback models.
How Amberflo Helps
Amberflo Quoting makes cost estimation more accurate and transparent. By using your actual pricing and connecting quotes to business units, the tool aligns planning with financial and architectural goals. Saved quotes also allow for comparison over time, improving future estimates and enabling more informed decisions.
Quoting Feature Overview
Amberflo makes it easy to create and manage cost estimates in just a few steps.
Step 1: Create a New Quote
To get started, navigate to the Quoting page and click Create Quote. Enter:
- Name: A title to identify the quote
- Business Unit: Choose which business unit the quote applies to
- Time Period: Select the cost window for the quote (e.g., one month, one year)
Step 2: Add Services
For each service to be included:
- Select a provider and region: Choose from a cloud provider or a metered service
- Choose the service and define configuration: Enter usage quantities and settings (e.g., vCPUs, storage)
- Set a recurrence schedule: Specify how often the usage recurs: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, or one-time
Multiple services can be included in a single quote.
Step 3: Review and Save
Amberflo calculates the total estimated cost based on your actual rates. The final quote includes:
- Total projected cost
- Itemized breakdown by service, quantity, and schedule
- Pricing aligned to your contract or usage-based rates
Saved quotes can be reviewed, refined, and shared with decision-makers for planning and approvals.
